Why am I so passionate about this opportunity?

Having been around superstar celebrities, business leaders, educators and organizations all my life, there was one day in February 2007 that changed me forever.

While serving as the former Executive Director of the Mineseeker Foundation and Sole of Africa Campaign, I experienced first- hand the problem, and then the solution, to the pressing world issues of poverty, hunger and disease.

Cyclones and Floods in Mozambique had forced a massive refugee influx into camps that literally did not exist the day before. Non-profits were rushing around in the old paradigm of no money and little resources; compounding the dilemma was that the United Nations World Food Program had announced a 70% funding shortfall, putting additional hundreds of thousands into immediate famine.

The situation was dire. That day I had a conversation with Heidi Baker, a primary care-giver in Mozambique for 20 years. She had 1,250 field agents to serve 500,000 homeless. She loves to love and yet she shared that she did not feel adequate to deal with what she was facing.

There are times when our hearts are etched with images for life. Our souls changed forever. In that moment I could not be ignorant of my belief that I could do something. I immediately reached out to my own circle of influence.

I made calls to my dear and magnificent friend, Larry Jones of Feed The Children.  We engaged the empowered distributors of the for-benefit company Nourish the Children and delivered over $2 million of life enriching Vitameals from a factory in China.
Within a few days, Heidi received enough superb quality meals to meet the immediate needs of the starving families.

I am clear the only reason we were able to feed that homeless city was due to the finest distributor of food and supplies whotook action with the abundant supplier of food stockpiled only because it was a for profit business model.

It was in this moment, I realized that Humanity truly Unites Brilliance. What I did not know until that second was this: as I buffered the mirrors of others to be shining examples of their own brilliance, what I was really offering was allowing myself to look more clearly at myself (through that reflection) and witness my own brilliance in action. Action made many people better that day, but ultimately Action made me better to deal with the next day of my own life, and then the next day, and the next.

Why I am so committed to HUB is the fact that it was not a superstar or a governing body that was equipped that day. It was people just like you and me. It was clear all we need to do is to tap into and unite each others brilliance in action, to make each of us the best superstar each of us can be and to change the world forever. This was my first realization that day.

The second realization followed as I lay awake in the night, facts buzzing through my mind such as:

Giving isn’t effective unless we become effective givers, and for that to happen the key is not in the giving but in accurate receiving not just to who we are giving to but ultimately to our very selves. To change the world we must first choose to recognize the need to love ourSelf, then those around us and our own communities. The world will inevitably change because of this very action by us.

The action of giving gracefully and being of service is central to each of our hearts. The problem has been that we just haven’t been very good at allowing our own light to shine and share our gifts with others.

Nelson Mandela and others often say: “It doesn’t serve us to give a man a bag of grain. We must teach the fisherman to fish.”

We have given $2.5 trillion dollars to Africa alone in aid over the last few decades. Our own systems like aid, education and health in the USA and UK were generally failing. What we do in Africa shifts the consciousness in the rest of the world and delivers answers to lift the apathy of the appalling global problems in Eastern Europe, China, India, South America, permeating now on our own streets and into our own homes in the USA and Europe.

The old non-profit model puzzled me. However honorable and loving and even effective our short term giving has been, it doesn’t serve the world to operate as independent organizations donating into the field and then looking for the next dollar from a donor. It doesn’t serve for us to take 1 and not try to combine it to 1 and allow 1+1=2

And what happens when a donor gives? Where does it go? What impact is it having? When the dollar is spent who gives the next dollar?

By 2007, the world was expressing its issues clearly. The mass of our global population was obviously awake to the issues yet we remained confused as to the road map that could lead us to making clear and defined impact, not just for today or even this week, but for the long term.

How could we move the world or even ourselves from the creation, childhood, confusion, compromise, conflict and crisis that we find ourselves in?

How could you or I move into clarity, connection and ultimately come together united with all our brilliance and individual talents within what I could see possible -- to be equipped as the most purposeful force for good on the planet, made up by the true superstars of the planet -- each and everyone of us?

That next day the third awareness, the vision for HUB was given to me.

To establish a for-benefit company that:

1.) Delivers powerful and continuous education products using Humanity itself and the tool box of its actions as the environment to support each and every one of us; to strive to be the best we can be; to reside within a caring sharing community where each of us is committed to supporting all of us to be the very best we can be.

2.) Provides a business model for each of us to take this sharing knowledge to others, and when it is received, for each of us to directly benefit from the gross revenues derived.

3.) And as a result, commits 40% of all its revenues, every day, every month to “integrated” packages into the compassionate fields of need around the world, providing predictable financing to well managed local field agencies initially in Africa and the USA.

By my own next dawn the calling of my life became clear and by my own action of simply sharing, of wanting to be better every day and passionately committed to helping others, this calling has now been accurately heard and has become the calling of thousands. Today we have a sensational team.

HUB today assembles the finest empowerment experts, tools, trainings and team to change our world.
